About us
This website is operated by Paediatric Chiropractic Africa, a professional association of chiropractors practising in the care of pregnancy, infants and children. Our contact details are on the contact page.
What this website is, and is not
Nothing on this website is medical advice. The information here is general and educational. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment recommendation, and it is not a substitute for consulting a registered healthcare practitioner about your own circumstances or your child's.
If you are worried about your child's health, speak to a healthcare practitioner. If it is urgent, seek emergency care — do not use this website.
Where we describe research, we summarise published work and cite it so that you can read it yourself. Research findings are not a promise about your own outcome. Individual results differ, and no practitioner can guarantee a result.
The practitioner directory
Our directory lists chiropractors who are paid-up members of the association. Being listed means a practitioner is a member in good standing and has told us they hold the qualifications shown. It is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a warranty about the care you will receive.
Each practitioner is independently responsible for their own practice, their own registration with the relevant statutory council, their own professional indemnity cover, and the care they provide. The association is not a party to the relationship between a practitioner and their patient, and is not liable for the care given.
Listing information is supplied by the practitioner. We do not independently verify every detail. If something in a listing is wrong, please tell us.
A listing disappears from the directory when a membership lapses.
Membership
Eligibility. Membership is open to chiropractors registered with the relevant statutory council, and to students of chiropractic in the categories we offer. You must give accurate information when you join, and keep it current.
Term and renewal. Membership runs for the period of the type you buy, from the date your payment clears. Renewal is not automatic — we will remind you, and you renew when you choose. Renewing early adds the new term on top of the time you already have; you lose nothing by paying in advance.
Fees. Fees are shown before you pay and are set by the association from time to time. A change in fees does not affect a term you have already paid for.
Refunds. Membership fees are not refundable once a term has begun, except where the law requires otherwise or the association decides otherwise in a particular case.
Suspension and termination. We may suspend or end a membership where a member has given false information, has had their statutory registration withdrawn or suspended, has not paid, or has acted in a way that brings the association into disrepute. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will raise the matter with the member first.
Your account. You are responsible for what happens under your login. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it.
Events
Registration. A registration is confirmed once payment has cleared, or immediately where an event is free. Member pricing requires a current membership at the time you register.
Transfers and cancellations. If you cannot attend, contact us. Whether a registration can be transferred or refunded depends on the event and on how much notice you give; the terms for each event are stated with it.
Changes to an event. We may need to change the programme, the speakers, the venue or the format. Where a change is material we will tell everyone registered. If we cancel an event outright, we will refund the registration fee. We are not responsible for travel or accommodation you booked separately.
CPD. Where an event carries CPD points, they are credited to those who actually attended and were checked in. Certificates are issued after the event. It remains your responsibility to submit your CPD to your regulator.
Conduct. We expect courtesy towards speakers, staff and other attendees. We may ask anyone behaving unacceptably to leave, without a refund.
Photography. We may photograph or record our events for the association's own use. Tell the organisers if you would rather not appear.
Payments
Payments are processed by PayFast. We never see or store your card details. Prices are in South African rand and include VAT where it applies. If a payment fails or is reversed, the membership or registration it was for may be cancelled.
The member video library
Recordings in the member library are for the personal professional development of the member who is signed in. You may not download, copy, re-publish, share your login for, or show them publicly without our written permission.
Content and intellectual property
The content of this website — text, layout, graphics and logos — belongs to the association or to whoever licensed it to us. You may read it, print it and share links to it. You may not republish it commercially or present it as your own.
Content you supply. When you put something into a directory listing or an event submission, you keep ownership of it, and you give us permission to publish it in connection with the association's work. You confirm that you have the right to give us that permission — particularly for photographs of other people. Do not upload a photograph of a patient, or of a child, without the consent of the person entitled to give it.
Acceptable use
Do not use this website to break the law, to harass anyone, to send unsolicited marketing, to attempt to gain access to areas you are not entitled to, to scrape the directory, or to interfere with the site's operation. We may withdraw access where any of that happens.
Availability
We try to keep the site available, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend it for maintenance or change it without notice.
Links to other sites
Where we link to another website — a practitioner's own site, a research paper, a video platform — we are not responsible for its content or its privacy practices.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or under the Consumer Protection Act where it applies to you.
Subject to that: we provide the website and the directory as they are; we are not liable for loss arising from the care given by any practitioner listed; and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Privacy
How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, and the date it was last reviewed is shown at the foot of it. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction. If you have a complaint, please raise it with us first — most things are resolved that way.
